Meet Lisa

Lisa has called Eugene, Oregon home for over 30 years.  Before being elected to the Oregon Legislature she worked as an educator – first as an elementary classroom teacher and then at Pacific University's College of Education.  As a classroom teacher Lisa fought for, and won, funding that helped create improved learning outcomes in K-12 schools.  At Pacific University she tackled Oregon’s teacher shortage and was dedicated to diversifying the teacher workforce.

Lisa served on the Lane Community College Board of Directors from 2018 until 2024, including serving as chair for two years during the COVID pandemic.  As an LCC Board Director she worked to bring more resources to the college for its nursing program, career and technical education pathways, and workforce development.  Lisa was appointed as a member of the City of Eugene Planning Commission in 2017 and served until starting in the state legislature in 2025.  As a member of the Planning Commission she worked to help identify housing solutions for our community.  As a community advocate, volunteer, and organizer Lisa fought for good paying jobs & benefits, increased access to healthcare, and helped pass sanctuary laws locally.

Lisa first ran for the state legislature in 2024 because as a teacher she saw first hand the struggles families face and her service in local government provided her with the understanding that it is possible to make a difference.  Lisa knows the most important issues for voters, nationwide and here in Oregon, are affordability and the cost of living. This includes ensuring families have access to good paying jobs and prioritizing efforts to lower everyday costs for working people.  As a state representative, she has fought to protect access to healthcare, increase affordable housing opportunities, and to protect the human rights of every Oregonian from federal attacks.

Representative Lisa Fragala recently finished her first term as a state legislator in the Oregon House of Representatives.  She is currently a member of the House Labor and Workforce Development Committee, the House Education Committee, and the House Housing and Homelessness Committee.  She is also proud to have recently been appointed to the Oregon Women's Commission.  She is honored at the opportunity to serve House District 8 in the Oregon State Legislature and committed to fighting for a fair economy that benefits working families and local businesses, not just big corporations.
